All the more relevant given the current politicial upheaval, CCI is delighted to present its second conversation this year to explore the concept of ‘these Atlantic Isles’. Used by the Prince of Wales in 2015 to describe the UK and Ireland, the term diplomatically avoided reference to the 'British Isles'. For this evening chaired by writer and documentary-maker Manchán Magan, we have invited a range of speakers to tease out the complexities of the shared and contrasting aspects of contemporary life and culture in the regions that make up the islands of Britain and Ireland: Scotsmen Paul Docherty, Head of the British Council in Paris and Graham McLaren, new co-director of the Abbey National Theatre, Dublin; renowned Irish author Joseph O’Connor; and journalist and broadcaster Una Mullally. .
