Asylum Archive
Visual artist Vukašin Nedeljkovic spent thirty one months from 2007 to 2009 in one of Ireland’s Direct Provision centres while his claim for refugee status was being processed. Through photography and video, he captured and processed his environment as a means of overcoming what was effectively indefinite detention. This body of work, ‘Asylum Archive’, has developed into a far-reaching project including art, activism and academic output that continues to examine the sites of these centres as well as the realities of life for asylum seekers. Following his residency here in 2020, we are delighted to exhibit a selection of photographs from Vukašin’s archive in CCI’s courtyard.
