Aoife Doyle Quartet
As part of the Jazzycolors festival

  • Friday 2 December 2022
  • 8pm

With Aoife Doyle (vocals), Johnny Taylor (piano), Dominic Mullan (drums), Barry Donohue (double bass)

Singer, songwriter and musician Aoife Doyle was brought up in a house steeped in traditional Irish and folk music. Her love of jazz and blues came later when as a teenager she discovered Billie Holiday. Now considered one of the best vocalists on the Irish jazz scene, Aoife's most recent album of original songs was released in April this year. Called Infinitely Clear, it was received to great critical acclaim with a 5-star review by the Irish Times.

Tonight, together with her accompanying musicians, she fills the Paris-Prague Jazz Club with her unique, expressive voice. Equally at home with soul, folk, blues or jazz, it evokes the sophisticated, velvet tones of Ella Fitzgerald, the earthy, sweet lyricism of Patsy Cline or the straight-up country clarity of Alison Krauss.

On 26 November, the Estonian jazz singer Susanna Aleksandra performs in the CCI's chapel as part of Jazzycolors.
