Anne Cleary & Denis Connolly
Moving Dublin

  • 28 - 31 October 09
  • Vernissage 27 October, 18.30 to 20.00, admission free

This is the first screening in France of Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly’s most recent video installation Moving Dublin (2009). A synthesis of two years of work in Dublin, the artists look at how far the contemporary world of a commuter in Dublin has strayed from the civic realm it constituted when Joyce wrote the Wandering Rocks chapter of Ulysses. Video footage, photographs, interviews, ambient sounds, stories that reflect as much the built reality of urban space as a mental picture of the city. The artists have lived and worked in Paris since 1990 where, most recently, they had a major solo exhibition Pourquoi pas toi? at the Centre Pompidou. They also garnered the prestigious AIB prize for promising Irish artists in 2009.
