Composer-in-residence link Ailís Ní Ríain presents Skloniŝte (2015), a solo accordion and video homage to the people who survived the Siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1996. This powerful work evokes the experiences and motivations of international aid-workers, the surrealist circumstances of war as well as the humour of a people determined to survive.
“Sklonište pays respectful homage to the people of Sarajevo, a timely reminder of how the horrors of war impact on innocent civilians. An excellent musical recital, Dermot Dunne’s discordant accordion playing lent a disturbing sense of immediacy.” (The Irish Examiner)
