Donegal-born poet Moya Cannon is best known for her poetry collections Oar and The Parchment Boat, which earned her the Brendan Behan Memorial Prize and the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award respectively. Crafting a poetics of place, her work demonstrates an ongoing sensitivity to the place names and forces of language and identity that shape everyday life. She frequently edits The Poetry Ireland Review and is a member of Aosdána. She also engages in musical collaborations, translating Gaelic songs for performance.
