Through examination of the typography, bindings and different marks left by readers, Malcolm Walsby, academic and specialist in the History of the Book, reveals the clues hidden in these special volumes, allowing us to trace the life of the book across many centuries.
This introductory lecture opens CCI’s new exhibition of works held in its Old Library collection, Decrypting the secrets of rare books, on show every afternoon of the week until 30 June 2022.
