Evening around Art Basel Paris
- Friday 24 October 2025
- From 6pm to 9pm
- Admission free - Reservation recommended
2 to 6pm - Screening on a loop of Methane Lake, a meditation on the sentience of ice, this filmwork by Siobhán McDonald explores the slow workings of geological processes dating back millions of years and imprinted deep in the Arctic permafrost.
6pm - Daniel Jewesbury presents his artist's book Looking at the Woman in a Bomb Blast for the first time in Paris. Exploring complex emotional reactions to this well-known sculpture by F.E. McWilliam in the Ulster Museum, his book takes the form of a dialogue between two characters – a writer and the woman depicted in McWilliam’s sculpture.
7pm - Screening of The Quickening (2024) by Deirdre O'Mahony. In this short film with original music, the artist gathers farmers, scientists and politicians at her feasts, to discuss the challenges raised by the ecological crisis in relation to food production and consumption. (This film will also be screened on a loop from 2pm to 6pm on 25 and 26 October.)
7.30pm - Writer and critic Alice Blackhurst leads this final event of the evening - a conversation with visual artists Deirdre O’Mahony and Siobhán McDonald on how their respective practices explore our relationship with an increasingly fragile Earth.
