Documentary "Le monde est un Théâtre"
Each year for the last decade, in the hilltop Corsican village of Rogliano, ordinary women and men put on a play with their theatre group "Cap in Scena". In 2023, it was to one of Brian Friel’s works that they were drawn - Dancing at Lughnasa, with its resonances to their life as islanders. The group find themselves invited to go on tour by the director of An Grianan Theatre in Letterkenny and, in this wonderful documentary by Nathanaël Maïni, we follow them as they take to the roads of Donegal to perform for Irish audiences.
Screened at the CCI on the tenth anniversary of the great playwright’s passing, Le Monde est un théâtre is a touching homage to Brian Friel’s universal appeal and to the links that are forged between communities through the sharing of a theatrical adventure.
