Sid Peacock

Born in Bangor, Northern Ireland, Sid played in rockabilly and folk bands before arriving at Birmingham Conservatory. In 2000 he met Ruth and set up SURGE Ensemble, now a 22-piece orchestra. SURGE has performed in festivals throughout the UK and Ireland and has appeared on BBC Radio 3. His style mixes folk, roots, jazz and classical, and he works with musicians from around the world; he has held residencies in Poland, Berlin, Paris, Ireland and recently with Sichuan Opera Troupe in Chongqing, China.

During his one-month residency at the CCI, he will develop a project with Congolese singer Didier Kisala and Paris-based string quartet Fyrebirds Quartet.
