Shane Mac an Bhaird

Shane Mac an Bhaird is an Irish playwright whose first production Melt (2017) produced by Rough Magic Theatre Company was a sell-out at Smock Alley Theatre and subsequently nominated Best New Play of 2017. He went on to receive the 2018 Next Generation Award from the Arts Council. Shane Mac an Bhaird is interested in the disruptive effect of technological change and the strain placed upon human consciousness in periods of rapid change. He will work on a new play investigating 19th century Parisian automatons and popular imagination around Artificial Intelligence.
