Olwen Fouéré

Olwen Fouéré is an actor, director and creative artist. She has been nominated Irish Times Best Actress five times. In 2014 she received the Herald Archangel award of the Edinburgh Festival and the Irish Times Special Tribute Award for her achievement and contribution to Irish Theatre. She collaborated with Marina Carr and created the title role in The Mai and that of Hester Swane in By the Bog of Cats. The roles were both written for her. She has also contributed to publications on contemporary theatre and performance, including Women in Irish Drama (2007).
