Mick O’Dea

Born in Ennis, County Clare, Mick O’ Dea is one of Ireland’s most renowned portraitists. Having studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design and at the Winchester School of Art in Barcelona, he has gone on to intimately depict many of Ireland’s best known figures, as well as paint landscapes, still life and historical series. Audience, Abroad, Plastic Warriors and Anna ma Kerrig are among his many exhibits. His work also features prominently in many public collections, from Bank of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin to the National Gallery of Ireland. In 2001, the Royal Hibernian Academy exhibited a large-scale series of 40 portraits by the painter to wide acclaim. His accolades include the Arnott’s National Portrait Award on several occasions, the ESB Keating McLoughlin Medal and the Taylor de Vere Award.
