April — June 2013
For visual artist Margaret O’Brien, this residency presents a valuable opportunity to pursue the site-specific nature of her practice through engagement with the historical sites of public executions in Paris, including both public market places and closed prison courtyards. As a symptom of profound discord between a regime and its people, the tradition of execution that grew from the late 1700s has resonance in the current Europe climate.
