Madeleine D'Arcy

Madeleine D’Arcy is a fiction writer. Her first collection of short fiction, Waiting for the Bullet (2014), won the Edge Hill Readers’ Choice Prize 2015 (UK). Her second book, Liberty Terrace (2021), was Cork’s One City One Book 2023. Other literary prizes include the Hennessy Literary Award for First Fiction and the overall New Irish Writer Award. During her residency at the CCI, Madeleine will continue working on a contemporary novel in which the main character, a cranky Irish widow, travels through France in an attempt to make sense of her past and find a reason to carry on. The structure and themes are inspired by the life and work of Antoine De Saint-Exupéry.
