Kerry Hardie is a poet and novelist living in Kilkenny. A former journalist with BBC Belfast, her collections of poetry include A Furious Place (1996), Cry for the Hot Belly (2000), The Sky Didn’t Fall (2003) and The Silence Came Close (2006). Known for their blending of the surreal in the familiar, her works have earned her several accolades, among them the Hennessy Prize, Patrick and Kathleen Kavanagh Award and the Lawrence O’ Shaughnessy Award. She has published the novels Hannie Bennet’s Winter Marriage and The Bird Woman. She is a member of Aosdána.
