Karl burke 2017

Born in Dublin, Karl Burke is a photographer whose work explores the underlying threads connecting science, the self and notions of reality. He often uses historical or experimental photographic processes as tools to investigate sociological and cultural phenomena. Winner of the Grand Prix award at Fotofestiwal Łódź in 2013, his work has been exhibited and published internationally. During his residence, he will research a new cycle of work inspired by the centenary of the November 1917 publication of the terms of the Sykes-Picot agreement which outlined the division of the Arab provinces of the Ottoman empire into areas of French and British authority in the event of a successful conclusion to the First World War.
