Karen Egan

Karen Egan is an actress, singer and writer. In 2011 she was invited to Pori, Finland by the Rakastajat-teatteri theatre group as artist in residence. She was then commissioned to write a play for their 2014 programme which she will work on at the CCI. Set against a backdrop of women and alcohol, Egan intends to examine the relationship between language and identity. The piece will explore how one can retain one’s sense of self, one’s ‘Irishness’ within the confines of a new land, a new environment, a new set of symbols, signifiers and hidden cultural codes. http://karenegan.com/
