Jack O Rourke 1

Singer songwriter Jack O’Rourke first came to prominence when his ode to misunderstood youth and growing up gay, ‘Silence’, became a torch song for the Irish Marriage Equality Referendum. It went on to win the Nashville Songwriting Competition.

Since then Jack’s career has gone from strength to strength and in 2019 he was chosen as a headliner for the Other Voices festival. His piano-driven 2021 album, ‘Wild Place’, was critically acclaimed, with Sea Swimming nominated for Choice Song of the Year.

He is using his residency in the CCI to develop a new collection of songs that explore Brendan Behan and Oscar Wilde’s time spent in Paris.

"The music video for ‘Oscar’ was filmed by Bob Gallagher at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, where O’Rourke had an artistic residency in July 2022. O’Rourke’s choice to release the new single and video now was no coincidence, as this week marks the centenary of Behan’s birth on February 9, 1923." Hot Press, 2023
