Ingrid Lyons

A specialist in visual art and culture, Ingrid Lyons regularly writes for some of Ireland's leading arts publications as well as galleries, art institutions and artists. Her playing of Donegal fiddle music serves as a way of excavating the rich heritage of creativity, poetry and storytelling in Ireland, and connecting with the eminent fiddle players who have mentored her.

During this residency at the CCI, she will develop Súgan, a one-woman, one act play to be presented in Montreal, Quebec in Spring 2025. Exploring the allegorical and symbolic associations of the ‘súgan’, a type of straw rope, in local folklore, fiddle tunes, social histories… she will conjure up the inner world of long-gone musicians and artists whose legacies still thrive in the repertoires they have left behind.
