Deirdre Mulrooney is a dance historian, writer/director, documentary maker (film & radio), academic and author of Irish Moves, an Illustrated history of dance and physical theatre in Ireland, as well as a book on Pina Bausch (her PhD). Her films, including Damhsa na hÉigeandála, starring Olwen Fouéré as Irish-German Modern Dance pioneer Erina Brady, have been broadcast on RTE, TG4, and selected for festivals worldwide, from Lincoln Center NYC Dance on Camera Festival to Bloomsday Festival Trieste.

As part of her ongoing project to re-inscribe the body into Irish cultural history, Deirdre is currently reclaiming misunderstood modern dancer Lucia Joyce as a significant artist, starting with her 2019 short dance film, and RTE Lyric FM feature radio documentary on Lucia Joyce, starring Evanna Lynch.
