Caroline Byrne is an Irish theatre director based in London. Her latest productions include Spring Awakening for Young Vic Unpacked and she has also directed at Shakespeare’s Globe, the Sam Wanamaker Theatre, the Abbey Theatre Dublin and many others. She is currently interested in the French playwright Bernard-Marie Koltes, is revising Deirdre of the Sorrow by J.M. Synge as well as adapting Irish novels for the stage. While at the CCI, Caroline Byrne will develop her new production, Portia Coughlan written by Marina Carr, and study French artist Louise Bourgeois and Christian Boltanski as an approach toward designing the world of the play.
