Anselm McDonnell

Anselm McDonnell is a Belfast-based Irish-Welsh composer who has written over eighty pieces for orchestra, chamber groups, choirs and soloists.

Composed for a commission from the Centre Culturel Irlandais, the new song cycle, 'Kraina' - a romantic term describing the 'region' or 'land' in Polish - draws on the poetry and prose of classical and contemporary Polish poets. The work focuses particularly on the experience of diaspora in Ireland. During his residency, Anselm pieces are to be presented in a performance by two brilliant young Northern Irish artists, Rebecca Murphy and Cahal Masterson.
