In a time of superstition and magic, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn Goodfellowe, journeys to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe rumoured to have the ability to transform into wolves by night. As they search for Mebh's missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the "Wolfwalkers" and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy.
Come and see the latest film by Cartoon Saloon, Ireland’s 5-time Oscar-nominated animation studio, who gained international recognition with Brendan and the Secret of Kells (2008) and Song of the Sea (2014). Wolfwalkers is the final chapter in their tripych inspired by Irish folklore where magic and history are masterfully combined to advocate tolerance and a sensitivity towards environmental challenges.
Both screenings will be held in the presence of Tomm Moore, co-founder of Cartoon Saloon and co-director (with Ross Stewart) of Wolfwalkers. Tomm is currently in residence at the CCI.
Just a 5-minute walk from the CCI, our partnering cinema Studio des Ursulines will also screen Wolfwalkers on Saturday 9 October at 2.30pm (in French) as part of the Avant-Premières festival.
