Shiro MASUYAMA envoye par artiste

Shiro Masuyama is a socially-engaged artist whose work encompasses performances, sculpture, installations, photography, and video. His practice has been shaped by more than 30 residencies worldwide, including the ISCP New York (2002-2003); Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2004-2005); and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea (2008). Following those at IMMA, Dublin (2006), and Flax Art Studios, Belfast (2009), he relocated to Belfast, where he has remained ever since. As a Japanese artist who has established his home in Northern Ireland, he occupies a unique position from which to explore how identity can be shaped by prevailing political forces. Masuyama has participated in various biennials and triennials, including the ‘ESC Biennale 2025’ in Escolta, Manila, Philippines; ‘BIENALSUR 2021’ at the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rosario, Argentina; and the ‘Aichi Triennale 2013’ in Nagoya, Japan.

He will begin new research in Paris as well as creating a video comparing different manners of truffle-hunting.
