Helen Hughes is a Co. Mayo-born artist living and working in Dublin. She graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and completed a Masters in Visual Arts Practices through IADT Dublin. She has exhibited widely both in Ireland and internationally. Recent solo exhibitions include Something as fresh as plastic at Ballina Arts Centre (2025), finding the forgiving element at Butler Gallery, Kilkenny (2024), an idle plasticity at Custom House Gallery, Mayo (2022), and and Yes, daydreamer S u r R e n d e r at Roscommon Arts Centre (2021/22). Hughes was awarded Visual Arts Bursary Awards from the Arts Council in 2020, 2022 and 2024. In 2023, she was awarded a public art commission by Dublin City Council for a permanent artwork for the Grafton Street area which is currently in production and will be installed in Spring 2026.

At the CCI Hughes will work on the presentation strategies used in her work. She will explore the area of richness and potential sitting between her handcrafted elements and the structural interior of the gallery. Hughes will develop new presentation possibilities by making the most of Paris' architecture.
