Nuit Blanche
Osaro & Fried Plantains Collective
- Saturday 3 June 2023
- 9pm-11.30pm
- Admission free
Osaro is an Irish-Nigerian artist and activist whose poetry and music is particularly influenced by her interest in Nigerian folklore, Irish myths and metamorphosis. As founder of The Fried Plantains Collective, she creates events which showcase and bring together alternative voices from LGBTQ+, feminist or African communities in Dublin. Black Jam (Jam noir) is the ‘sensational lovechild’ of Fried Plantains Collective which combines an electric mix of storytelling and boots-stomping live punk, hiphop music from Ireland's best alternative artists. Winner of the
Zeitgeist Award and Best Performer Award at Dublin Fringe Festival, Black Jam is taking over the Centre Culturel Irlandais for one night only as Jam Noir: Intime to present the powerhouse trio BlackMagickRawr, the sulphuric-acid duo 7of9 and the ethereal hypnotic sounds of Alyxis.
This evening is presented in conjunction with the Romilly Walton Masters Award for Experimental Performance which Osaro won in 2021.
Our current exhibition, To the Edge of Your World by artist Anita Groener, is open specially this evening for Nuit Blanche, from 8pm to midnight.
