Selected themes

Sports and arts

While we wait for the 2024 Olympic Games, the Médiathèque has a special selection on sports and how they appear in the arts.
Read about their history, including about Gaelic games of course! Sports appear everywhere in arts and literature, like in Eimear Ryan’s and Adrian Duncan’s novels, and poetry as well as films and documentaries available in the collection.

Irish literature and censorship

"The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame." (Oscar Wilde)

A selection of Irish writers available in the Médiathèque whose books were banned, such as Edna O'Brien, John McGahern, Oscar Wilde, Liam O'Flaherty, Francis Stuart, Brendan Behan, Sean O'Faolain, James Joyce...

Literature on screen

Here you will find all the literary adaptations for the small and big screens available at the Mediatheque.
