For Nuits de la lecture 2025, the CCI is devoting two evenings to the luminous and poignant work of writer Claire Keegan. For this first evening, we present a staged reading in French of Les trois lumières, published originally as Foster (2010). This enchanting novella inspired a film adaptation, An Cailín Ciúin - The Quiet Girl, that recently represented Ireland at the Oscars.

French actress Constance Dollé (Un village français, Baron noir…), winner of a 2019 Molière prize, will lend her voice to the shy young narrator who is sent to live with distant cousins on their farm in Wexford one summer. She savours the beauty of the natural world and slowly begins to find herself in a new environment that seems so peaceful. In Claire Keegan’s shimmering prose, a delicate and lyrical story takes shape – with immense dramatic power.

This event is the first of two evenings for Nuits de la lecture 2025. Find out more about the second evening : Small Things Like These (in English) on Saturday 25 January.
