The Old Library of the CCI has volumes in its collection that date back to the 15th century and the beginning of printing. This exhibition on the ground floor of the CCI takes an archaeological approach to each book it focuses on in order to unveil secrets in our Old Library collection. Through examination of the typography, bindings and different marks left by readers, he reveals the clues hidden in these special volumes, allowing us to trace the life of the book across many centuries.

Malcolm Walsby, an academic specialising in the history of books and curator of the exhibition, opens the exhibition with a lecture on 21 March at 7.30pm.
