Drinks and foodtruck in the courtyard

Light installation on view from 29 January to 14 February
Wed-Sun: 5pm-8pm

This evening we celebrate Brigid, Ireland’s second patron saint, and the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolg that traditionally marks the first glimmers of spring. An uplifting moment when the light begins to return and nature reawakens!

Our artist in residence Tom Meskell has crafted a special installation of lanterns in the courtyard - Silva Lumina. He invites us to weave through a landscape of luminous sculptures that blend human and plant forms to embody hope and community, with sound by Colm O Snodaigh and Brian Hogan of the renowned trad group Kíla. Find out more about Silva Lumina here.

Tom Climent’s new exhibition of paintings Etat Sauvage also opens this evening. Explosions of colour and blooming petal-shapes signal his intuitive faith in the idea of transformation through evolution and regrowth – in his own words, ‘almost a call to light’.

5.15pm – harp performance by Brenna Byrne
6pm – Conversation between artist Tom Climent and art critic Cristín Leach (reservation recommended, in English)
7pm – music by Brían Mac Gloinn (Ye Vagabonds) and William Howard

Throughout the evening – screenings of short films, including the experimental film Cá ndeachaigh mé? (Where did I go?), selected by our film maker in residence Daniel Butler

Mediatheque open all evening. The new publication Tom Climent by Gandon Editions is available for sale there.
