For more than ten years now our Gaulín Traditional Singers’ Club has been a special meeting place and platform for people who enjoy singing and listening to traditional song. This evening we are delighted to welcome Doireann Ní Ghlacáin as guest singer. A fiddle player (since the age of three!), sean nós singer, academic and broadcaster from Dublin’s northside, she inherited her love of traditional music from her father’s family. Her passion for the Irish language, traditional arts and sean nós song comes from her mother's family, the Ó Riada's of Cúil Aodha. Having completed a PhD in oral poetry at NUI Galway, Doireann works full time as a broadcaster on TG4 and RTÉ as well as co-hosting the hugely popular ‘How To Gael’ podcast.

Currently in residency here at the CCI, in partnership with Irish Traditional Music Archive, she will lead tonight’s Gaulín with a number of traditional songs a capella.
