In recent years, a quiet revolution is taking place in the world of sean-nós: young singer-performers are embracing traditional old tunes and infusing them with modernity and originality. For our Saint Patrick's Festival, we welcome two of the finest male voices of this new generation who both garnered prizes at the 2024 RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards.

Piaras O Lorcáin
delights in keeping alive the repertoire of his native region, South Armagh. Combining deep-voiced a capella singing with guitar and bouzouki playing, he has already been invited to appear as part of the iconic Other Voices programme in 2024 and performed at the National Concert Hall with the Bláth na hÓige collective.

Eoghan O Ceannabháin
is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who grew up surrounded by the family tradition of sean-nós,. He has collaborated with Skipper's Alley, Jiggy and fiddler Ultan O'Brien, and in 2022 released his first solo opus, The Deepest Breath, to great critical acclaim.

Accompanied tonight by musicians Kaitlin Cullen-Verhauz (cello, vocals) and Ian Kinsella (guitar), Piaras and then Eoghan will fill the chapel with their evocative songs in Irish and English.

Piaras and Eoghan are also the special guests at our Gaulín Traditional Singers' Club on Wednesday March 12 at 7.30pm. Details and reservations here.
