Sibyl Montague
February — March 2025

Sibyl Montague is a visual artist who works across sculpture, video, drawing and textiles. Her practice explores counter narratives and modes of storytelling that reflect on inter-species relationships and human connections to land and resources. During her residency at the CCI, Montague will explore France's long tradition of caricature and the use of comic and satire as an economical but provocative tool for representation. Focussing on the period of authoritarian censorship of nineteenth-century caricature pre the French Revolution, her research will examine drawing and its impact for social justice and political change through history. During her residency she will undertake research of the drawing and print collections at BNF Gallica and Maison Victor Hugo.
