John Francis Flynn

While supporting Lankum on their 2019 UK tour he caught the eye of Geoff Travis and JeanetteLee who quickly signed John to Rough Trade imprint label, River Lea. River Lea releasedJohn’s album “I Would Not Live Always” to critical acclaim earlier this year (Folk Album of theYear - The Guardian; Soars with confidence - The Irish Times ****; Top 10 Albums of the Year -Songlines, #2 Irish album of the Year - Nialler 9, #1 Irish Album of the Year- The Thin Air, Uncut****, Mojo ****) Produced by highly regarded producer, Brendan Jenkinson, this release looks tocontinue where River Lea last left off; highlighting the enormous talent hidden away in thecorners of Ireland’s folk scene. Flynn was the recipient for 2 awards at the 2021 RTE FolkAwards - Best Emerging Artist and Best Folk Singer.

He will spend his CCI residency creating new compositions and will share them with us during his Chapel Session on 23 May.
