Originally from County Monaghan, Eilís Lavelle is a recognised exponent of the Irish harp. She has travelled throughout the USA, Canada and Europe as a performer and teacher as well as contributing to broadcasts on TG4, RTÉ, and BBC Television & Radio. Eilís recently completed a PhD at Queen’s University Belfast, focusing on scribal practices found in manuscripts of harp music collected by Edward Bunting in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. During her residency, she will finally have the time to develop and rehearse arrangements of this little-known music in preparation for future performances and recordings.
