Chris Moran
November 2025
Chris Moran is a theatre director and playwright from County Wicklow. His work explores Irish national identity, queer history, cultural memory and the limits of empathy. Chris is currently researching theatre as a form of cultural resistance to fascism, with the support of an Arts Council Theatre Bursary. He recently directed the Irish premiere of Alexander Zemlinsky’s “The Dwarf” at Wexford Festival Opera, and has directed or assisted with The Abbey, The Gate, Druid, THISISPOPBABY and ANU Productions. He was a TRANSFORM Associate Artist at the Mermaid Arts Centre, 2022-3. While in Paris, Chris will write the first draft of a new play about political radicalisation in small towns in Ireland and he hopes to meet artists making similar work, as well as exploring French theatre and opera in general.
