Aoife Demel

Aoife Demel is Artistic Director of Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre and Chair of Storytellers of Ireland, an all-island organisation dedicated to the promotion, practice, study and knowledge of oral storytelling in Ireland.


She has curated and produced the YARN Storytelling Festival in Wicklow for the past 15 years, is Co-Director of the Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival in West Cork, Producer of Cork Yarnspinners and has curated both the Fadó Fadó Storytelling Festival and monthly Yarnspinners for DLR Libraries in South Dublin for the past three years.


The residency will give Aoife the time to explore and develop her own creative practice and connect with French storytelling organisations and artists to deepen her understanding of contemporary oral storytelling.
