Over the space of a month or two, a specific body of work is devised, often in response to time spent here in Paris, and launched in conjunction with the CCI.
Commissions
Catherine Sikora, Sanctuary
Commissioned 2020
Saxophonist and composer Catherine Sikora first came to the CCI for a residency in 2014 and it was then that she formed a Parisian musical duo with pianist Christopher Culpo.
She was also joined during her 2014 residency by drummer Ethan Winongrand to make a live recording at the CCI of “Things to Do in Paris”, a largely improptu set of five pieces that is being released in October 2020.
When Catherine returned to the CCI for a commissioning residency over the summer of 2020, she came with her tenor saxophone. In direct response to the special atmosphere of CCI’s Chapel, she composed and recorded her solo piece “Sanctuary” also released in October 2020.
