The Gaulín Club is a meeting place and platform for people who enjoy singing and listening to traditional song. While Club members are welcome to sing, they are also welcome to just listen. While there will be an emphasis on Irish song, any traditional song is valued. Each month sees a new guest traditional singer play ‘fear a’ ti’ (host).
This final Gaulín of the season will be led by Róisín Elsafty. Born in Connemara, she is a native Irish speaker with Egyptian roots and a highly respected singer of sean-nós. This highly ornamental traditional Irish singing style is redolent of both North African and Middle Eastern melodies.
