Dublin Sound Lab - Sketch

Dublin Sound Lab - Sketch

Dublin Sound Lab specialises in new electroacoustic music and computer-mediated performance. Formed in 2008 by organist Michael Quinn and composer Fergal Dowling, they are joined in Paris by renowned violist Garth Knox and actor/mime artist Bryan Quinn.

This theatrical presentation includes texts from Samuel Beckett's Worstward Ho, framed by two musical works that juxtapose fragmentary ideas: Karlheinz Essl's More or Less and Fergal Dowling’s Sketch, which involves real-time computer manipulation of the performers' sounds.

Kaija Saariaho's Jardin Secret II (harpsichord/electronics) and Lucas Francesconi's Animus II (for viola, computer and 6 loudspeakers) complete the programme.
