The Médiathèque of the Centre Culturel Irlandais is a multimedia library on contemporary Ireland.

Opened in 2002, at the same time as the Centre Culturel Irlandais, the Médiathèque was entirely renovated at the end of 2007. It offers a  collection of over 5000 items (books, newspapers, magazines, music CDs, audiobook CDs, films, documentaries, CD-ROMs) on Ireland, its history and culture. This collection, in English and French, is still expanding, to reach 9000 items over the coming years, including all the different formats.


Consult the catalogue

The Médiathèque is a modern and dynamic place with a multimedia area composed of 6 computers that allow you to consult our films, music CDs, audiobook CDs, CD-ROMs, ..., via our audiovisual database, to use software such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher, to search the Internet for information about Ireland, to print and photocopy, and much more.
Wi-Fi access is also available.

On-site access to the resources of the Médiathèque is free and open to all.

The Médiathèque offers a lending service to members.

You can join the Médiathèque for 6 months or 1 year.  Membership gives you the opportunity to borrow a maximum of 4 items for up to 3 weeks.

So that everyone can enjoy our collection of films and documentaries, only one film (DVD or VHS) can be borrowed at a time, for one week only

* On presentation of valid proof of entitlement the following groups can benefit from the reduced rate:

Persons under the age of eighteen years require the signature of a parent or guardian.

La Médiathèque rencontre… Gina Moxley  
in English, admission free
reservation necessary (space limited)

Gina Moxley was born in Cork where she studied painting at the Crawford School of Art. She has appeared in numerous plays in Dublin, London and New York. In the role of Jocasta, she has recently toured internationally in Oedipus Loves You with Pan Pan Theatre. She has appeared in feature films and on numerous television drama series. A writer and playwright, Gina won the Stewart Parker Award for new theatre writing in 1995.

You can now borrow and browse through almost 5000 items, which include:
- over 250 films and documentaries
- nearly 100 audio books
- nearly 50 events recorded in the context of the culural programme
- nearly 400 music CDs
- over  50 CD ROMs
- about 40 different newspapers and magazines
- over 4000 books


The Dictionary of Irish Biography now in the Médiathèque
The Médiathèque now provides free access to «The Dictionary of Irish Biography» online. The dictionary is the result of a collaborative project between Cambridge University Press and the Royal Irish Academy.

This essential resource contains more than 9,000 entries on notable Irish people throughout history in all fields of endeavour (politics, religion, journalism, literature, the arts, sciences, sports…)

Our Teachers' Pack can be borrowed for a period of one month in the context of a project organised within your educational establishment.
